Meet & Greet at the convention
What a blast!
The Meet & Greet at the Boulevard Brewery tonight was awesome. Nearly 40 guys were there enjoying the plethora of beers offered by Kansas City's own microbrewery, Boulevard. Many a Pale Ale, Wheat, and Bully Porter were enjoyed. Everyone got along like we all knew each other even though most of us had just met. The at-home dad "community" is really unique and it is great to talk to so many people who just "get it."
The beer made all of us hungry so I went with several of the KCDADs and a couple of out-of-towners to Manny's, an all-time favorite KC Mexican restaurant. Our waitress, Priscilla, went right along with our loud and often a bit obnoxious behavior. About half the guys went to Pier Porter (can't remember the exact name - and I live here!) at Union Station to enjoy Kansas City's famous steak.
Since it was only 9pm, our group decided to hit the "hip" part of town, Westport, to fill up on a few more adult beverages and some first-class second-hand smoke at Kelly's. I don't think I had laughed that much in a 2 hour period EVER!
Unfortunately of course, all good things must come to an end, and most of us decided 7:30am was going to roll around much too soon. As I walked out of the bar with Steve I said, "Hey, it's alright to go home early (11pm is early?!) because we've still got TOMORROW!!!"
